genesis 28:16

January 23, 2007

its late. i had a great first day and topped it off with a random yet amazing time with fellow attendees- 3 guys from texas (so nice to meet some southerners) at a coffee shop that we eventually got kicked out of because it was so late. now i can’t fall asleep because i have a million thoughts running through my mind. i had so many wonderful conversations with people today from all over the place and also a meeting i had set up with denise van eck, one of the pastors at mars hill. amazing people. amazing time. amazing stories. and i still have another day.

i’ve taken notes as best i can. i’d love to post them all here since its fresh on my mind, but i am exhausted and must try to sleep. maybe i will have another 5 hour delay in chicago wednesday and can get it all out then. (yeah, 5 hours- missed the service sunday night but there were several of us on the flight from o’hare going to the conference who mourned the loss together. the fact that they too were missing it somehow made me feel better… as terrible as that may sound!)

a few of my favorite quotes from today:

“i know pastors that have had to get a job at starbucks to find their soul.” -Rob
“every moment is loaded with the presence of God.”-Rob
“you are only 22, you aren’t old enough to do that.” -Denise
“God laughs at our travel plans.” -Denise
“the other staff members at my church don’t know i am here.” -anonymous church leader from a city somewhere in some state.

thats it for now.
